The Best & The Brightest App Developers of Bangladesh Honored
Government rewarded the best mobile content and innovative applications developers of the country. Yesterday Information and Communication Technology Division awarded 14 best mobile application developer at ‘Mobile Application Award and Developer Conference – 2015’, at Agriculture Institute auditorium near Khamarbari of the capital city. In a grand ceremony of thousands of developers of the country, a total of 10,50,000 taka in awards and special honorary crest were awarded.
State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Khan Palak, MP, the Chief Guest of the prize ceremony gala event along with Secretary of ICT Division ShyamSundarSikdar as special guest, handed the awards to the winners.
To expand the mobile app industry, innovative and effective mobile apps for smart phones, tablet, iPad, Android, iOS, Windows, Blackberry were requested in October last year. After long scrutiny and evaluation by jury board, the prizes were awarded.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak in his Chief Guest speech said, “We are delighted to be able to reward the best innovative project by the best developers of the country for the first time. From now on this award will be presented every year for best innovations. The youth of this country is architect of the modern digital Bangladesh for Bangabandhu’s ‘Sonar Bandgla’. By utilizing their power of innovation in ICT, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina and directions from her worthy son and ICT advisor SajibWajed Joy, we will make Bangladesh a middle-income country well before 2021, Inshallah.”
State Minister also said, “In the 2,500 billion dollar worldwide app market, even though United States, South Korea, Japan and Britain are the leader, the youth of Bangladesh are a major shareholder. The developers of this country are building apps for iPhone, Android and Windows. Through patronage and assistance from the government, Bangladesh will lead the mobile apps market in the future.”
Champions and runners-ups of total 7 categories were awarded at the ceremony. In Business category, ‘Seliscope’ app by Humac Lab Limited became champion while BUET student RakibUnAlam was runners-up for his ‘Finance BD’ app. On the topic government and people partnership, Empower Enterprise Limited became champion for their ‘Farmer Quary’ app. ‘Universal Meter Reader’ app by Surjomukhi Limited won runners-up prize. The app ‘Critical Linkk’ by Critical Link won the championship in environment and health category while ‘Live Blood Bank’ app by Easy Technology was runners-up. In education and training category, ‘Durdin’ app by Durbin Lab won the championship and ‘Math Parking’ by Team Creative won the runners-up prize.
In tourism and culture category, ‘Haji Wizard’ by Team Omlet became champion and ‘Bus Map Dhaka’ by Nerdcats and ‘Bangladesh Flight Live’ app by Smartdroid became co-runners-up. In Entertainment and Lifestyle category, the game app ‘Tap Tap Ants: Battlefield’ by Rise Up Labs became champion and ‘BoiPoka’ by Moby App Limited was runners-up. In media and news category, ‘Deshi IP TV’ app by Haque Japan Trade and Trading won the championship and ‘Bangi News’ by Bangi News became runners-up. The champion app developer person/organization of every category received award, certificate, 50,000 taka prize money from ICT Division and 25,000 taka from Robi, WiFi router with Qubee connection and Tablet from Symphony. All runner-up received each a crest, certificate, 30,000 take prize money from ICT Division and 15,000 taka from Robi and gift from Qubee.
The ceremony was presented by Ashraf Abir, CEO of the event organizer MCC Limited while the awards were handed over by prominent personalities in their respective sectors. Among them were Shamim Ahsan, chairman of BASIS, advisor of Burn Unit Dr. Simanto Lal Sen, Jago Foundation Founder Korovi Rakhsand, film director Mostafa SarwarFaruqi, actor director Ananta Jalil.
