First Batch Of Graduates From Founder Institute Recognized
The first batch of founders from the Dhaka Chapter of the Founder Institute has officially graduated. The Institute started its first batch of Dhaka Chapter in February 2015. On Thursday 21st May, graduates were awarded certificates at a program organized at the BDjobs Training Center in Karwan Bazar.
“Today is an important day for the Bangladeshi Startup scene, it has been a long journey for our first batch of graduates”, said Minhaz Anwar, Co-Director of Founder Institute in Bangladesh. Sajid Rahman, Director of Founder Institute Bangladesh who moderated the event said “There were 142 applicants for this course, who went through screening and 28 startups were initially selected, while 5 startups finally graduated from the intensive course”
The graduates from the first batch are: Md Abu Sayed, founder of Brain Study Ltd (www.brainstudy.co); Shah Paran, founder of HandyMama.com; Smartkompare.com founded by Shabbir Ahmad Tamim & Mahbub e Elahi; Khobaib Chowdhury, founder of Styline Collection and A.K.M. Masuduzaman, founder of Tapstar Games. A one minute pitching session was allocated for every graduate, after which a compelling keynote speech was made by Muntaquim Chowdhury, Senior Principal Engineer at Intel Corporation.

Styline Collection offers a one-stop hijab lifestyle e-commerce platform from where young, stylish and religious women can purchase a variety of imported and top quality local products at very reasonable prices. The market size is big and this is still an uptapped market; while at the same time the trend is growing fast for hijab lifestyle. The website is already live and they are introducing their Android app in late May.
