Bangladesh Internet Week Begins
শুরু হলো ইন্টারনেট সপ্তাহ
The Bangladesh Internet Week 2015 has finally commenced, turning a blind eye to the grey skies and drizzling rain. With the aim of creating over 1 crore new internet users and the hope to improve living conditions through ICT and earn over 10 crore in export revenue by 2018, the Internet Week 2015 will be held simultaneously in Dhaka, Nanking Bazar in Rajshahi as well as Sylhet City Indoor Stadium. Moreover, the fair will be organized in close to 500 upazilas also. For the first time, Grameenphone, BASIS and ICT Division have teamed up to organize the fair all over the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the event through live video streaming from her office in Ganabhaban. ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, BASIS President Shameem Ahsan, Grameenphone’s CMO Yasir Azman were at Ganabhaban with Pime Minister. Finance Minister Abul Maal Adul Muhith, ICT secretary Shyam Sunder Shikder participated at the event premise.
Russell T Ahmed, Acting President of BASIS and Convener of Internet Week, stated that a special ‘Meet the Youth’ program has been arranged at the venue as part of the Internet Week. Following the internet based Q/A program, a live concert featuring popular band Shunno and renowned local DJs have also been arranged.
