How To Apply For An Investor Visa In Bangladesh
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has long been considered one of the driving forces behind economic growth, more so for developing nations. Although Bangladesh has adopted an export led growth strategy, the importance of FDI has never been doubted. Over the years, considerable efforts have been made to better the local investment climate with the hope of drawing in foreign investment. Consequently, a lot of foreign investors have shown interest in investing in Bangladesh, particularly in the power and energy sector.
However, foreign nationals intending to reside in Bangladesh for business purposes are required to obtain a local work permit or visa. This article will explain how to apply for an investor visa (PI type) under the Board of Investment’s (BOI) new eService.
Go to this link. Then click on the ‘Access Secure eService Portal’ button and see the instruction for easy access.
In the next page, sign up with your full name, address and email ID. You will be sent an email providing you with your username and password. Enter your username and password in the spaces provided and move on to the next page.
After signing in, you will be directed to the BOI eService Portal page where you can start the application process. On this page, click on the ‘Visa Recommendation For Foreign Investors/Workers’ tab. You will now be directed to the ‘Dashboard.’
After you are taken to the ‘Dashboard,’ you will find a page asking you to fill in your personal details. You will also be asked to provide address and contact number of your office and factory in Bangladesh. You will also need to provide information about your principal promoter. Also, in the ‘Department’ box, select ‘Registration and Incentives-I’ from the drop down menu and select ‘PI type’ for the Visa Category.
In this step, you will also need to upload the required documents. These include, but are not limited to, BOI form, a copy of your passport and other certificates.
You will also be required to upload a passport size photograph. On the top right corner, click on the ‘Choose file’ button and upload a picture.
Read the ‘Declaration and Undertaking’ part at the bottom of the page and then hit ‘Next.’
You will then be taken to a confirmation page which will show a summary of your application. Read through the page and check if all the information you provided are correct. After you are done, click on the ‘Submit’ button. At this point, your application will have been submitted.
After the submission of your application, you will be redirected to the ‘Dashboard’ where you will be provided with you tracking ID. You can view your application summary by clicking on ‘View.’
You can also print and edit your application anytime you want by logging in with your user name and password. You can also use your tracking ID to check the status of your application anytime you want.
