Field Buzz: Bangladesh’s Best Startup
On Wednesday, October 19th, during Seedstars Dhaka, Field Buzz won the Bangladeshi round of Seedstars World and will represent the country at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland to compete for up to USD 1 million in equity investment.
Seedstars World, the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes brought its Bangladesh round to a successful close during Seedstars Dhaka, in close participation with Digital World 2016. The event took place this Wednesday in the new co-working space White-board, and 10 selected startups were invited to present their ideas in front of an international jury panel.
The local winner, Field Buzz, a software that helps organizations manage their field operations with smartphones, bringing transparency and effectiveness to the "last mile", was selected the best startup in Bangladesh for its much needed solution. As part of the prize, Field Buzz will be participating at Seedstars Summit, taking place in Switzerland in April 2017, a week-long training program with the opportunity to meet the other 60 winners, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. Traditionally, the final day of the Summit will be dedicated to pitching in front of audience of 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to the USD 1 million equity investment.
C-MED, with its cloud based medical system for regular health monitoring and preventive healthcare, came second and Shopfront grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The Swiss Embassy Prize for the solution with the most social impact was awarded to 10 minute school.
The 10 startups pitched in front of a prestigious jury, including Sajid Rahman, the CEO of Telenor Health; Heena Khushalani, the Programme Manager at Aavishkaar; M Muntasir Hossain, the Deputy Director of Grameen Phone; Amarit Charoenphan, the CEO of Hubba, Shawkat Hossain, the Managing Director of BD Venture, Ari Eisenstat, CEO Dream Ventures ,Sarim Aziz, responsible for the Strategic Product Partnerships at Facebook. BetterStories, organized the event with Seedstars World’s local partners ICT DIVISION, Digital Bangladesh, Bangladesh Computer Council, International Trade Center, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and The Swiss Embassy to Bangladesh. The event attracted interest from over 90 startups around the country, and over 100 attendees.
