Is There A Fake Google?
We all know and trust Google and use it a lot without ever thinking twice about the safety, at least most of us. But now there’s some worrying news, there’s a fake click bait Google with the domain ɢoogle.com. Notice that the ‘G’ is smaller than usual because it’s really a Unicode character for the Latin small-capital G. You could almost mistake it for the real Google and end up clicking it and risk your computer’s security.
The fake site was first noticed on the Analytics pages on many websites. These sites are usually spam sites that create fake traffic in the form of click baits for these web page owners. There’s a chance of getting your PC infected with malware from these sites, so its best to keep your distance from them.
News of this spam site comes in just days after the issue of fake news and misinformation through click bait links were addressed in regards to Facebook and other social networking platforms. This is a growing problem for the internet community, especially for novice users. The fake Google is something that even proactive paranoid internet users may miss and accidentally click on, so for the light users or older people, this is definitely an issue.
Vitaly Popov, a Russian spammer is the creator of this fake site and has been doing so for years to direct fake traffic to sites. Definitely a creatively smart guy who is an expert at tricking people.
